CREATOR STORIES: Interview with Hidden Tigress

Hidden Tigress is a Singer/Songwriter from the USA, with a penchant for trance, but also influenced by many genres of music. She believes that every moment in life can be expressed through music. Hidden Tigress takes pride in writing her own lyrics and melodies.
We first became aware of her back in 2017, having discovered her amazing work on the track, “Until the Dawn,” with Platunoff (released on Sunstate Records).
How did you get started as a singer?
My creativity was itching to reach out. Then one day, I realized with the help of technology that I could connect with people all over the world. So, I decided to reach out to a producer I liked and eventually, received a reply. Then, from there, things progressed and still continue to this day.

Within your journey of being a Singer and Songwriter, what sparked that creativity to become an artist?
I think many things have contributed to my spark for creativity. When I was little, my parents exposed me to various styles of music, from opera to pop / contemporary. Those small things helped influence me. I also am inspired by the world around me and that is what shapes what I write / sing.
What were some of your early influences musically, either singers or other musicians?
Some of my early influences for musicians were Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Williams, Crywolf, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, ATB, Markus Shultz and Cosmic Gate. For singers, I would say Celine Dion, Aaliyah, Nadia Ali, Justine Suissa, Stine Grove, Christina Novelli and Jennifer Rene.

Your artist name (“Hidden Tigress”) is quite interesting. What is the origin story behind it?
Thank you for the compliment. Hidden Tigress was born to intertwine being “hidden” / mysterious, and using the noun / adjective “tigress” to describe who I am as a person. A tigress by definition is a female tiger and to describe a fierce and courageous woman, which is who I am. Since that word connected with tigers, one of my favorite animals, I thought it fit me perfectly.
What have you been up to musically recently?
Currently, things are going at a good pace. I have slowed down a bit from releases due to balancing real life and music life. Since I am a firm believer in “family comes first” as well as keeping my mental health in check, my priorities have to adjust accordingly.
Who are some of your favorite singers at the moment in the electronic/dance music space?
I have always enjoyed PinkPantheress and Jennifer Rene.
COLLABS WITH PRODUCERS
How do you typically go about choosing who to work with?
Typically, my collaborations are a two-way street. I have reached out to a producer I am interested in working with and other times, the producer has reached out to me. So, I have no preference.
Are there any tips you might be able to pass along to singers & producers on how to collaborate more smoothly?
As long as the communication is consistent, everything else falls into place.
What have been some of your most favorite collabs so far? (and why?)
I truly enjoyed working with Nitrous Oxide because I truly thought working with him would be an untouchable thing. However, one day, my persistence finally unlocked the door for me. He was very down to earth and we both had mutual respect for each other and to me, that speaks volumes.
DREAM COLLAB
If you could work with ANY electronic music producer, who would it be, and why?
I would like to work with RAM / RAV3HEART. He is someone that I remember listening to when I was younger. He worked with Stine Grove, one of the vocalists I admire and released “Forever And A Day” .It would be a dream come true to work with him.
ACHIEVEMENTS
What are you most proud of in your musical career so far?
Honestly, I am proud of every single thing I have done. Every release is a piece of my heart that I give to the world. Truly feel blessed to be where I am today.
UPCOMING PLANS
Do you have any musical projects or releases upcoming in the works?
Yes, I have some releases coming up. Specifically, 2027 will be interesting. Stay tuned!
Your thoughts on using AI, for either singers/songwriters or producers?
I feel that AI needs to be out of the picture completely. Talent and creativity is something that remains to be a piece of my heart and not something that is generated specifically for profit.
LABEL VS SELF-RELEASE
Would you rather release on a LABEL (any label, either one you’ve worked with before, or your “dream label”) or INDEPENDENTLY, and why?
All of my releases have been with a label by my side. I appreciate having a solid team go for the common goal of helping my work be successful. I am not saying that people do not have success releasing independently, but for me, I prefer releasing with a label.
What advice would you give to young singers or electronic music producers just starting out in their career?
The advice I have for young singers / producers would be to just be yourself, stay humble and do not let anyone discourage your mindset. Eventually, hard work will pay off.
GENRE
It seems like a lot of the tracks you have worked on might be considered as trance, or maybe “progressive trance.” What do you like about that particular flavor of electronic music (trance), and do you have any thoughts on GENRE in electronic music?
The bottom line for the GENRE is that no matter what, I have to feel something. If I don’t, then for me, creativity will be difficult. So, ultimately, if the connection is there, then so is the creative freedom.
What are some of your favorite genres to listen to?
I enjoy a little bit of everything. I associate music with a feeling or a vibe. From Classical, to Opera, to Rap to R&B, to Trance, to Deep House, it is all about feeling. I like to connect with the music no matter what genre it is considered to be.
