Our dear friends over at Downbeat District are gearing up for their next event, Trance Awakening. DD promises an “unforgettable night of euphoric melodies and driving beats that you do not want to miss”, and we couldn’t be more stoked. To prepare you and get a little hyped ourselves, we’ll be doing an artist spotlight on each featured DJ. From top to bottom, we’re covering who you’re seeing, what you’ll be hearing, and why you should get excited.

Next up is Mearzie.
Originally from Chicago, the birthplace of trance, Mearzie has had a lifetime of education in the genre. Since making D.C. her home, she’s been able to share that wealth of knowledge with listeners and other DJs alike.
Her magic comes in the ability to set the tone for an evening. Since becoming a leading figure in the D.C. trance scene, Mearzie has played at almost every venue you can think of, including the world-renowned Echostage as an opener for Above & Beyond. As any performer knows, an opener provides the necessary appetite whetting that drives the crowd for the rest of the show. Mearzie is gifted in this way. She knows exactly how to welcome people into the room and leave them wanting more.
Her style of music aims to transcend and uplift listeners, providing refuge from the cold nights of winter and the blazing afternoon days of summer. From classic trance to deep and progressive house, Mearzie’s sets always take you on a journey. As an expert in creating an environment where time, place, and space cease to exist, she transports you to a world of her own making. This world is full of good vibes, rhythmic sounds, and overall elation. Once you enter, you’ll never want to leave.
