Our dear friends over at Downbeat District are gearing up for their next event, Trance Awakening. DD promises an “unforgettable night of euphoric melodies and driving beats that you do not want to miss”, and we couldn’t be more stoked. To prepare you and get a little hyped ourselves, we’ll be doing an artist spotlight on each featured DJ. From top to bottom, we’re covering who you’re seeing, what you’ll be hearing, and why you should get excited.
First up is Ori Uplift.
Keeping true to his name, his music unfurls your wings and lets you soar high above the clouds. But his name goes beyond his music. A true nurturer of the EDM trance scene in D.C., he hosts a weekly podcast showcasing the latest drops, making a point to highlight other D.C. DJs and lesser-known artists. In addition to his podcast, he is the CEO of Abora Recordings, producing and representing artists in trance music of all kinds from all corners of the Earth. Since its launch in 2004, the label has grown to include 6 sub-labels, all with the goal of curating emotional, uplifting trance music that fits into every part of life.
At the decks, Ori Uplift is right at home. Like his label, he spins a collection of airy, ethereal tracks that lift you higher than any aircraft ever could. The focus is always on uncomplicated, euphoric joy that a flood of notes can give us. By keeping this focus, his music cuts through the clutter that overtakes other artists when they become consumed by lyricism and vocals. When vocals are used, they have a specific purpose, and they only elevate the happenings underneath.
