LEADING LADIES OF ELECTROFANS
At Electrofans, we CELEBRATE and aim to EMPOWER WOMEN, every single day.
Today for International Women’s Day (March 8), we’d like to celebrate and acknowledge 12 amazing, lovely and talented women in particular, the “Leading Ladies of Electrofans!”
They’re running labels, they’re doing radio shows, producing, DJing, singing, songwriting, running events….. They’re holding it down and getting things done.
Luna Shimada: Head of Electrofans Asia, co-founder of the Fearless Recordings & Zodiac13 labels, regular radio show host on DI.fm, Luna has been directly responsible for connecting many artists from Japan with western audiences through the Electrofans network. Lorna James: Lorna has been a key part of our “Connect” group for music professionals these last couple of years. She is a DJ, producer & re-mixer whose music tends toward the deep progressive and melodic, even diving into the realm of the orchestral and classical piano!
Sara Cruz: Splitting time between Italy and the UK, Sara is a versatile singer/songwriter, equally at home in the realms of synthpop, bass music, DnB, and synthwave.
Aly Batzli: One of the newest editors for our blog at Electrofans.com, Aly has already written several nice reviews of shows she has attended recently in Washington DC where she resides.
Sara Simms: Sara is a combination DJ, producer, Artist Coach, as well as head of her own techno/house-oriented label, Simmetry Sounds. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Sara is currently lighting up clubs with big shows in Las Vegas.
Jan Johnston: “The First Lady of Trance,” Jan has worked with such industry legends as BT, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, and Cosmic Gate, among many others.
Sophia Sigma: A DJ & producer based in Amsterdam, Sophia’s music is centered around rousing techno and house, and she is also an operatically trained singer! Her DJ talents include spinnng up wicked sets in vinyl.
Ëmbyrblume: Based in Tokyo, Katie is a talented producer & DJ who has had releases on several labels, as well as independently. She has a distinctive, avant-garde sound that flows from deep & melodic house, to techno and afro-house.
Ahreum: An exciting DJ originally from S. Korea based in Tokyo, Ahreum‘s live sets are “guaranteed to be groovy,” uplifting and melodically pleasing. She is also now starting to work on her own original productions.
JES: Star singer/songwriter who has been an important part of our musical family for some time now. She has released scores of amazing, inspiring tracks over the years, and her regular radio show, “Unleash the Beat” delights listeners’ ears with each release.
Cheryl Barnes: Cheryl is a brilliant singer from Scotland who has done some simply smashing tracks with some of the biggest names in the business (Paul van Dyk, Alex M.O.R.P.H & others).
Towa Ainutronica: From Hokkaido, the island in the north of Japan, Towa’s music directly reflects her native Ainu culture, evoking sounds of nature, animals, the elements, and minerals – quite similar to Native Americans and Eskimos.
