Frank Muller / Beroshima’s biography:
[muller records, acid orange, cocoon, soma , dystopian // BERLIN]
For nearly thirty years now, Frank Muller has been part of the back bone of the European house and techno scene. The German-born artist is a DJ, producer and live act who is always evolving under his own name and aliases like Beroshima: whether serving up acid-flavoured sounds, Detroit-style techno or heartfelt house, he always makes his mark and has contributed a huge number of pivotal records to the scene over the years.
As a DJ, his special sets draw on a lifetime of house and techno experiences and have made him one of Germany’s most notable exports, with gigs in countries all across the world from Asia to South America. As a live performer, he cooks up a visceral soundtrack that is raw, instinctive, and known as a rock and roll techno trip like no other. For this reason, he has, over the years, held key residencies at places like Mayday, Wire Festival in Japan and his own We Love Neon in Berlin.
A producer of international repute, Muller has landed on the most influential labels of the day, from Soma to Cocoon. His tracks are revered for their rich production values as well as the sense of atmosphere they cook up, and often climb to the very top of the Beatport Charts as well as becoming instant anthems. With multi-layered grooves, whirling basslines and dashes of melodic strings, he has won critical support from the world’s most revered media outlets, as well as tastemaking DJs like Marcel Dettmann, Francois K and Nina Kraviz.
Muller has also proven himself with the labels he runs: Mueller Records and Acid Orange provide platforms for a wide remit of protagonists of electronic music, as well as for his own concoctions, and are legendary in the scene. It is there he has put out seminal solo albums like Polyphonication, Real 2 Reel and The Catastrophe Ballet, plus countless EPs, all of which explore new ground within the house and techno world.
His latest EP finds his underground hit ‘Interplugreaction’, which was originally released on Frank’s cult Acid Orange label, getting re-released and remixed by Berghain residents, Somewhen, Marcel Dettmann and the Rødhåd himself. Dettmann has long been a fan of Frank, previously telling Mixmag that Muller’s ‘Electronic Discussion’ and ‘Deebeephunky’ still feature heavily in his sets and are some of the most influential tracks in techno history.
Continuing to push forward and blur the boundaries with the same energy and vision that he had in the 1990s, Frank Muller therefore remains a key character in the story of underground electronic music.
electronic discussion was voted by Radio 1 UK as one the of the 10 most influential techno tracks of all time.
EP “The Pornographic Of Performance”において確固たる地位を得る。
