ALIMA & Simon T.P.’s latest collaboration, “Made of Light,” started with an uplifting trance melody – but the finished record took a very different direction.

Released on August 7, 2026, “Made of Light” combines the emotional and melodic character associated with ALIMA with a noticeably harder rhythmic edge.
The story behind the track began toward the end of 2025, when Simon T.P. shared a demo containing the lead melody that would eventually become the foundation of the release.
ALIMA immediately heard the potential for a complete uplifting trance production around the idea. After making several small changes to the melody to improve its rhythmic flow, he started building the track in Logic Pro.
But the production did not immediately become “Made of Light.”
Like many unfinished ideas, the project eventually found its way into an ideas folder – where it remained for several months before being revisited.
An unexpected change of direction
When ALIMA returned to the production, further experimentation began to move the track away from its original uplifting trance concept.
During the development process, harder influences started appearing, particularly in the rhythm and kick.
Rather than removing them, ALIMA decided to follow the new direction.
The result became a hybrid that retains the emotional character of trance while introducing an energy more commonly associated with harder electronic styles.
“It started as uplifting trance. It became something harder.”
For ALIMA, the most important part was ensuring that the finished production still felt connected to his own musical identity.
Despite the harder influences, the melodies, atmosphere and emotional progression remain central to the record.
Two versions, two different energies
The release also approaches its Radio Edit and Extended Version somewhat differently.
The Radio Edit emphasizes immediacy, dynamics and impact, while the Extended Version gives the trance elements more room to develop and stays closer to the progression longtime ALIMA listeners may expect.
Both versions are built around the same original melody, but each highlights a different side of the production.
AI as part of the production process
“Made of Light” also reflects ALIMA’s increasingly open approach to incorporating new technology into an established production workflow.
The musical foundation was created in Logic Pro before AI tools entered the process.
ChatGPT was later used to help develop prompts and the final lyrics, while Suno became part of the experimentation around arrangement, vocal integration and the final development of the existing demo.
Some of those experiments also contributed to the unexpected harder direction of the finished record.
Rather than replacing the production process, the tools became another stage within it – with the final creative decisions, sound design and mastering remaining part of ALIMA’s own workflow.
The full story behind “Made of Light”
There is much more behind the release than a simple genre crossover.
From Simon T.P.’s original melody and the first uplifting trance concept to the months spent inside an unfinished-project folder, the use of AI-assisted experimentation and the decision to keep an unexpected harder sound, “Made of Light” became a track very different from the one originally imagined.
ALIMA has now published the complete behind-the-track story, including a detailed look at the collaboration, production process and creative decisions that shaped the finished release.
