Exciting synthwave artists, Close to Monday

Berlin-based electronic artists Close to Monday are taking synthwave to a new level. Originally formed “as a collective” in 2020, the band has been extremely fast-rising, having already won awards for “Best Dance Music Video” at international festivals in London and Rome. Their new album “Interference” (released this year), peaked at #2, and remained within the Top 10 for eight consecutive weeks in the German Alternative Charts.

Their unique style swirls together synthwave, euro-pop, and even a bit of alt-rock, with an engaging incorporation of songwriting and melodic vocal work.

They’ve also done some collabs with major names from the electronic music scene. In early autumn, “Close to Monday” released an incendiary
remix of the track “Time” performed by the established techno and house master Dirty Doering.

One of their most recent hits has been “GUNS,” remixed by Biicla, a Russian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer.

The band states, in regards to their track, “Guns”:

At some point, it seemed to us that everything happening in the world is terribly oppressive. There are so many
deaths and so much injustice. It felt as if we needed God’s hand, but that of a tough God who would come and
put an end to the evil. “Guns” track is the feeling of anticipation of a righteous and tough hand.

FULL BAND BIO

Close to Monday’s music is a guide for people who are on a journey, exploring themselves or the surrounding world!
Each of the band’s tracks communicates a ‘photo of feelings’ – a ready-made image, a situation reflecting their perception of things happening in the surrounding world and inside themselves, emotional experiences that are familiar to everybody.

The title of the band Close to Monday was not chosen by chance. Their music transfers listeners into the last minutes of sleep before Monday comes, when serenity and joy begin to intertwine with the awareness of reality – but there is still time for wandering and reflection.

ANY is the name of the Close to Monday lead vocalist.
The name speaks of the readiness to be different and, at the same time, reflects the singer’s real name.

The band has also unveiled their new logo: inspired by the laconic sensuality of the Scandinavian runes, CTM chose the symbols ‘kenaz’ (strength), ‘teiwaz’ (success) and ‘dagaz’ (flow of time). Since ancient times, these runes have protected wanderers from evil, shielding them on their way, helping them to find strength in desperate times.

Close to Monday’s music is a journey – both from country to country, from one feeling to another.
