These songs have a vibe, delivering the feels of: rebellious, dark, strength to carry on, and an epic battle cry. In past Sonic entries there were several vocal tracks, but this is the first game to ever contain more than a few Rock based songs. They are all connected to the themes within the game, from characters, to the Bosses themselves, and what is going within Sonic himself. The series has always had a layer of range in its sound design. Frontiers delivers even more on a phenomenal level.

Cyber Space: There are a total of 30 stage themes, which take place in a variety of stages that are fragments, memories of past adventures. The songs are in fact mixes of past game tracks, but done with such mastery, it feels like an incredible experience. Think of it as being at a music festival, with a live mix, every track having its own energy, and synergy that resonate, connect and make you get up and dance. Picture the Cyberspace stages, as if you’re at a live concert with: JES, BT, Above and Beyond (Oceanlab), Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Underworld, Orbital, The Chemical Brothers, Junkie XL, and more (no I am not kidding, this game soundtrack goes all out delivering this type of energy and vibe, and it is epic!)

Drawing from the past, inspiring the present and future, the Cyber Space stages connect to the vibes of the 90’s Trance sound. Drum and Bass, Experimental, PsyTrance, Progressive House, Breakbeat, and so much more. This part of the soundtrack is a surreal experience that has never been heard in videogames before. Usually music like this is in parts, small bits of a video game, but to have its own segment that connects to the narrative, literally a part of the journey. Cyberspace is literally a Sonic music festival, and it is awesome.

Returning from Forces, this amazing vocalist/ vocal advisor, and director becomes a key part of Cyberspace. As a narrator, and guide within the music. Throughout these levels, the music, and her vocals act as a sort of compass telling the player to keep going, even when things get tricky. It amplifies with more speed, the rush, and intensity once you find your rhythm.

Overworld: These tracks cover the various islands you will visit in game. Throughout the journey, the music itself will shift in tone as more of the terrain becomes accessible. From puzzles, to exploration, day and night cycle, and the occasional Starfall. From ambient, to melodic, then building tension, to joy, pain, sadness, and redemption. There are so many emotions explored throughout the journey, it is a unique experience.

Exploring sounds from Orchestral, to ambient, and experimental. Everything within this atmosphere is vibrant, moving, expressive, to a unique energy of flow. From exploring every terrain the music changes in tone, to excitement, wonder, or awe. From various landscapes, to just whizzing by, the audio creates a space that flows all around you. Within the instruments of each world theme, it is alive, as Sonic, you are here. An unfamiliar place, yet something about it draws you in to keep looking, deeper, to find answers.
