According to hedonistic life, people who lose moral purpose, a telos which provides the moral justification for the society
“Hedonistic” Definition: (Adjective)
Engaged in the pursuit of pleasure; sensually and self-indulgent. Drink, drugs, and parties
These two key terms, are what define this album. TELOS, the newest album by well known producer ZEDD, is a comeback release. A fresh start, a new chapter, also it deals with the journey thus far, and the hopes and dreams of what is ahead for the future. Plus the life left behind, and those they let go, moving on, but sometimes cannot move on from.
It is unreal, that this is Zedd’s third album. But definitely worth the wait, it takes on a different form from what we’re used to. TELOS is his life’s journey, where he’s been, experiences, heartbreaks, and rebirth. Each song takes on a piece of that puzzle, that fits into place. With the imagery of a clock within each music video, a form of colors, shapes, fragments, giving the audience a perspective, a view into his very soul.
Tracklist:
1) Out of Time (with Bea Miller)
Delivering that feeling, a clock running on borrowed time. One last chance, one more opportunity
2) Tangerine Rays (with Bea Miller, Ellis)
Within the minds eye, in one’s soul. Beyond what you see, and feel.
3) Shanti (with Grey)
“Shanti” in Sanskrit means peace.
4) No Gravity (with Bava)
Feeling weightless, but also that emotion of everything hitting you all at once.
5) Sona (with The Olllam)
Beloved one, close to the heart. But it also has multiple meanings, in Irish it means “happy”
6) Lucky (with Remi Wolf)
As the song title says, conveying how you feel because of someone special in your life.
7) Dream Brother (with Jeff Buckley)
Close your eyes, let your mind go free. A dream within a dream, let go of everything that brings you down. Just chill vibes.
8) Descensus (with Dora Jar, Mesto)
(Noun) slipping, or falling out of play
(Latin) Or to descend, come down, or having come down
9) Automatic Yes (with John Mayer)
Now this track and collab is a surprise. Delivering a soulful, and future funk style, with John Mayer. Wait, but it is excellent! “Automatic Yes” contains themes of forgiveness, and forget. But still has those lingering feels. I will not lie, this is actually my favorite song of this entire album.
10) 1685 (with Muse)
Another additional surprise, with the opening lyrics of “Ave Maria”. Then the song completely shifts in tone, but somehow it feels perfect. Even though it is the last track of album it feels it that last puzzle piece, that fits into place. Muse compliments the album with a unique song that serenades the listener. Like open arms, praying for what one has done, to be given another chance.
Going by some unique terms within key tracks, it seems that ZEDD was inspired by his travels around the world. Experiences that taught him lessons along the way, to finding oneself as an individual. TELOS feels like a new chapter for the artist. Leading to some new opportunities to explore his creativity, plus amazing collaborations you would never expect to crossover.
TELOS deserves to be part of your music library. The album is available now
