The mere mention of ‘tuck shop day’ would set our young hearts aflutter as we eagerly anticipated the chance to munch on Aussie staples like meat pies, lamingtons and toasted sandwiches (known down under as ‘sangas’).
With a flair for food, which is a frequent feature in his addictive and often hilarious Tik Tok videos, DJ and Producer Joey Tuckshop serves up beats that are as irresistibly catchy as the savoury goodness of a tuck shop sausage roll (also known as a ‘puff dog’).
Joey Tuckshop is a talent on the rise. Hailing from the western suburbs of Adelaide, Australia, his musical journey has taken him to the vibrant, coastal creative hub of Byron Bay (where creative energy and a perhaps a dash of Hemsworth magic flow).

Influenced by artists like Monkey Safari, Yolanda Be Cool, Flume, and Ta-Ku, Joey Tuckshop has crafted his own distinct artistic identity. His latest release is a fire two-track EP titled ‘Summer Feed‘. This gem was freshly served by independent record label Sorta Kinda Music on August 29.
The EP kicks off with deep house journey ‘Kick Snare and a Feed‘. Built on a dub-inspired bassline, with layered pads, synths, and a touch of quirky squelchy stabs, this track is best savoured in dimly lit rooms in moments of musical euphoria. The second track off the EP, ‘Summer Milkshake‘ is a groovy soundtrack to poolside get-togethers and beach days, setting the mood for balmy summer nights. The intro sprinkles glittery synths and playful vocal chops, setting the stage for a drop that effortlessly fuses varying synth tones with an irresistible bassline.

The flavours of the ‘Summer Feed EP’ follow an array of previous musical delicacies, including Joey’s ‘Mrs. Williams‘ EP, which found its home under the London-based label WyldCard Records. This record label is guided by the expertise of Sam Young, who you may know as VANILLA ACE. Joey’s presence is felt on compilation releases ‘Club Cactus Vol. 2‘, LW Recordings ‘The Sound Of Deep House, Vol. 12‘, and ‘Massive Sets & Reps 027‘ as well as the single ‘Chug‘ which was released earlier this year. All of these contributions have collectively shaped what can be described as a highly productive year for Joey in 2023 so far.
Looking ahead, Joey Tuckshop’s aspirations are clear—to keep crafting music that spreads joy and positivity. With a sound that stands out and an ever growing fanbase, he’s primed to make a significant impact on the global electronic music scene.
